Philadelphia

1700 Market St. (11/2/2015, Rating B)

Downtown location.  Same issue with not seeing boards. This is a issue again and again. Hard to keep a line moving when everyone is squinting at a dim sign with a plethora of choices. Hearth facing foot traffic. Draws some eyes inside. Larger location that did not seem to have a clutter issue. Pay here sign right by drinks. Again the mojito lemonade on ice got me. If not there wouldn't have bought it. Music and good lighting here, except for menu boards. Funny how Chestnut St location can be the same company. Tables by Windows were dirty when I came in. Balcony seating is nice considered shoppers and foot traffic at this location.Table at entrance with paper menus. Might be better served being close to order counter. People walking back and forth.

Fix signage issues and stay clean. This should be a showcase location. Too much traffic in this part of city not to be.

General observation from visiting 3 Philadelphia locations this morning: 1. Signage and lighting obviously an issue.

I spent 17yrs in retail management. Obviously cost controls were always on our mind. I find that there is more than enough staff it seems at all times. That's great for the customer and service. However shows me that labor line could use a little trimming at each location I visited. That said if you can deliver the comps then no one ever complains about that.

As a manager I had to canvas local businesses. Offer discounts and the like. Talked to some people inside 1700 Market St shops and they weren't offered any incentive. While annoying to a manager, canvassing gets your location know by all the local workers. City Hall is right down the street.

Everyone should be about driving sales. Add ons. Never was I hit with a suggestion at the register, would you like a drink, coffee, soup, desert. Suggestive sales are a necessity at this level. It's retail elementary school.

Lastly I agree with you, tell the story of the company. Makes it seem authentic. Going to jump on the train. Thanks for letting me help.
